Pauline Montgomery is a contemporary ceramic artist who trained at the Glasgow School of Art and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Ceramic Design. After a break to bring up her family, she returned to her artwork a few years back and she is now a full time artist. She currently lives and works from Glasgow, Scotland.
Montgomery’s work is a celebration of the essential values of life and focuses in the everyday beauty and mundane objects. She is inspired by the way our environment can evoke emotions and shape our experiences. She became known particularly by her ceramic houses, which became her signature work due to their simplicity and yet distinctive and effective style. All her work is individually handcrafted using earthenware and Scottish brick clay.
