Karen Jones studied at the renowned London College of Printing.
Her creative contemporary story-telling draws inspiration from literature, history and the natural world, as well as diverse artistic influences such as Caxton and Caulfield, Rossetti and Ravilious. Jones seeks to invoke the imagination through beauty; skilful application of gouache paint in rich, vibrant, palettes results in her trademark velvety style. Karen’s beautiful ‘Tree of Life’ Series of paper sculptures are inspirited by the Japanese bonsai.
In 2010 Karen completed ‘Beyond the Frame’, a prestigious public arts commission for Essex County Council and had an artwork acquired for the permanent art collection at The Royal Shakespeare Company – Stratford-upon-Avon. She also founded the thriving Hive Artist Studios in Chelmsford.
In 2011 Karen held her first solo show ‘Painted Words’, became a judge for ‘The Essex Open’ and was selected for ‘Journey to the Podium’ a public arts commission for the Olympics 2012.
Karen’s work has been widely exhibited and resides in public and private collections all over the world.
